Update- alleged purse snatcher arrested

An arrest has been made in the theft of a purse that occurred on May 2, 2022, from the Country Club Mall food court.

Following the release of a video capturing the incident, a suspect was quickly identified. On June 16, 2022, investigators went to the home of the 37-year-old suspect and arrested her without incident for the theft.

The woman was then released from custody and served with an Undertaking to appear in Nanaimo Provincial Court on September 13, 2022. One of her release conditions is that she is prohibited from going to the Country Club Mall until such time the court proceedings have been dealt with.
