3-Day Immediate roadside prohibition

On May 23rd, a vehicle was found driving in the downtown area without its headlights on at approximately 10:00 pm. A traffic stop was conducted to ensure the vehicle was not suffering from a mechanical issue. During the traffic stop, an impaired operation of the vehicle investigation was started. Two breath samples were provided into approved roadside screening devices, which resulted in a warn both times. The driver was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition for a three-day period. 90-Day Immediate roadside prohibition

The Kitimat RCMP received a report of a possible intoxicated driver during the afternoon hours of May 24th. A description of the vehicle was provided, which allowed the investigating officer to locate the vehicle while making patrols. Once located, a traffic stop was conducted and the driver provided a breath sample into an approved screen device, which had a fail result. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. It was also found the vehicle was uninsured so the driver was severed a violation ticket for no insurance. (2024-1845)

Theft of camping gear

A report of theft of camping gear was reported to the Kitimat RCMP on May 25th. It was reported that an individual had left their camp set up along Highway 37, the week previous when they went to work., Upon their return it was found that several items including a generator, propane and personal items were all stolen. No suspects have been identified at this time, however if you have any information regarding this theft, please contact the Kitimat RCMP at 250-632-7111 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. 90-Day Immediate roadside prohibition

The manner in which a vehicle was being operated in the downtown area at approximately 2:00 am on May 26th, caught the attention of a Kitimat RCMP officer making patrols. A traffic stop was conducted and an impaired operation of a motor vehicle investigation was initiated. The driver was found to have consumed liquor before driving after providing two breath samples. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. (2024-1869)

Minor parking lot collision

On May 27th, a driver attended the Kitimat RCMP detachment to report a minor parking lot collision. It was stated that the driver was leaving a parking lot located on the 900 block of Wakashan Ave, and they accidently bumped a, unoccupied white SUV. The reporting driver noted minimal damages to their vehicles, but checked surrounding businesses to locate the driver of the other vehicle to exchange information. When the driver returned to their vehicle the white SUV was gone. The driver attended the Kitimat RCMP detachment in hopes the other driver made report, however no other report had been received. Lost and found cell phone

On May 28th, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of a cellphone that was possibly stolen while the owner was at a business on the 700 block of Lahakas Blvd. While this investigation was ongoing, a report of a found cellphone was received by at the Kitimat RCMP detachment from another party. The cellphone that had been reported as possibly stolen had been located at a near by business. The phone was returned to the owner. (2024-1885)
