Oceanside RCMP attended the scene of a motor vehicle incident on Highway 19A just north of Qualicum Beach at 2:55 a.m. on March 2, 2024.
Police determined that a female driver had gone off-road right and struck a pole, possibly due to weather conditions. A man stopped to render assistance and, while both drivers were standing on the side of the roadway, a third vehicle collided with the woman's vehicle and struck both individuals.
Emergency personnel attended and transported all three to hospital, with the man sustaining serious, life-threatening injuries. The driver of the third vehicle is being investigated for impaired driving.
