Two people charged following a search warrant and firearm seizure in Golden, BC

On Friday May 19, 2023, at approximately 11 a.m., the Golden-Field RCMP and the BC Conservation Officer Service executed a search warrant at a residence with illegally owned firearms in Golden, BC.

After a lengthy investigation, the RCMP determined that the residents illegally possessed and used firearms on a regular basis, without the licencing, training, or basic safety knowledge to do so, states Constable Kat Robinson, Media Relations Officer with the Golden-Field RCMP.

The search led to the arrest of two individuals, and a seizure of 10 firearms and various ammunition. The firearms were found to be improperly stored and several were loaded.

The case is being forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service, and the individuals are facing charges of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Unsafe Storage of a Firearm, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
