Dump truck driver arrested after causing rampage

On April 2 just before 9:00 p.m., Smithers RCMP responded to a report of possible impaired operation of articulated dump truck (rock truck).
Police located the suspect vehicle and suspect vehicle which allegedly attempted to collide with the police vehicle. Due to the escalation of potential grievous harm to police as a result, shots were fired by police. Luckily, nobody was injured and police were able to stop the suspect.
The suspect was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and is under investigation for further criminal offences.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information, including dash cam or other video footage to contact the Smithers RCMP at 250-847-3233.
