Two men arrested after fleeing significant collision

The Dawson Creek RCMP have arrested two men in relation to a significant collision after they fled from the scene and were tracked into the nearby forest by police.

On 23 May 2023 at approximately 6:30 am police were called to a collision on Rolla Road near 212 Road in Briar. Police arrived to find that a SUV had U-turned in front of a truck on the roadway causing significant damage to both vehicles. The driver and passenger of the SUV fled the scene as they heard police approaching.

Police Dog Services and RCMP Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) Operator attended and successfully located the driver and passenger in the forest nearby. The two outstanding men were arrested and held in custody on numerous charges. All occupants of the SUV were taken to the hospital with varying injuries.

The driver, 30 year old Jessie Fougere of Fort St John has been charged with breaching a release order and driving while prohibited. The passenger, 33 year old Mitchell Jeff of Williams Lake has been charged with uttering threats and obstructing a police officer. The investigation is ongoing and multiple additional charges against both men are anticipated.

The Dawson Creek RCMP would like to thank the witnesses of the crash who assisted in the investigation, Police Dog Services and the RCMP Remotely Piloted Aircraft System Operator for attending and assisting in the arrest of the two men.
