Erratic driving:

An erratic driver on Highway 37 was reported to the Kitimat RCMP during the evening of April 25th. The complainant was able to provide a description of the vehicle, including a license plate, which allowed the investigating officer to locate the vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted and it was confirmed the driver was not intoxicated, and allowed to continue on their way.

Break and enter arrest:

The Kitimat RCMP received a report of a break and enter at a vacant Kildala neighbourhood residence on April 26th. The responding officers attended and located a 44-year-old male in a shed on the property, the male was arrested on this break and enter, as well as a previous theft file that was being investigated with him as a suspect. The male was released on an undertaking to attend court on a future date to answer to the charges of break and enter (three counts) and theft. (2024-1435)

Cause a disturbance:

On April 27th, at approximately 12:00pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a call of a disturbance on the 200 block of City Centre. The responding Kitimat RCMP officers located two males who were found to be intoxicated and causing problems in the area. Both males were arrested for causing a disturbance by being drunk in public and lodged into the Kitimat RCMP cells. Both were released without charge once sober. (2024-1451)

Mischief to vehicles:

The Kitimat RCMP was advised of two vehicles parked on the 1500 block of Jassee St, that had their tires damaged on April 28th. The responding officers attended and began an investigation into the mischief. The investigation is ongoing to identify a suspect in this incident. (2024-1473)

Check well-being:

At approximately 1:00pm on April 29th, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of a male that was walking along Highway 37, near the cemetery. It was stated that the male was heading toward Terrace and seemed not very steady on their feet. The officer investigation attended and located the male. The male was found to be in good health, and was walking to a Bus Stop in Cable Car to catch a bus to Terrace. The officer was able to confirm the bus schedule and ensured the male safely made it to the Bus Stop. (2024-1484)

Immediate roadside prohibition:

While conducting proactive patrols in the downtown Kitimat area, just before midnight on April 29th, a vehicle being driven without it’s tail lights on caught the attention of a Kitimat RCMP officer. A traffic stop was initiated and an investigation into impaired operation of a motor vehicle was initiated. After providing a breath sample into a roadside approved screening device, it was found the driver had consumed alcohol before driving. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate driving and the vehicle as impounded for 30-days. (2024-1490)

False alarm:

A report of a business alarm being trigger on the 100 block of Nechako Centre was received during the evening of May 1st. A Kitimat RCMP officer responded and met with a property representative at the business. A check of the business was completed and nothing was found to be awry, confirming the alarm was false. (2024-1517)
