Two vehicle collision:

The Kitimat RCMP received a call regarding a two-vehicle collision on the 100 block of City Centre on March 14th. There were no injuries to either parties involved. The appropriate information was exchanged so each driver could report through their respective insurance companies. (2024-855)

Cheque fraud:

The Kitimat RCMP received a compliant from an out of town victim who reported that a fraudulent cheque had been cashed at a local financial institution in Kitimat on March 15th. The complainant provided as much information as possible to aid in the investigation. There is a concurrent investigation being conducted by the victim’s financial institution as well. The investigation into the fraud is continuing. (2024-867)

Driving complaint:

A driver contacted the Kitimat RCMP on March 15th to report a reckless driver on Haisla Blvd on March 15th. The complainant was able to provide enough information for the investigating officer to follow up with the registered owner of the vehicle being operated in the concerning matter. The owner was spoken to and receptive to guidance provided. Not violation tickets were issued in this incident. (2024-872)

Found fire:

On March 17th, while fueling up a police vehicle at a local gas staton at approximately 6:30 am, a Kitimat RCMP officer and a civilian noticed what appeared to be suspicious smoke coming from the Kitimat Ice Rink located on the 400 block of City Centre. After further investigation it was determined that the Kitimat Fire Department would be required and they were contacted immediately. (2024-891)

Warrant arrest:

While on routine patrols in the downtown Kitimat area on March 17th, a Kitimat RCMP officer conducted a traffic stop. During the stop a passenger was identified and it was found they were wanted on an arrest warrant. The passenger was taken into custody and lodged into the Kitimat RCMP cells until they were able to have a virtual bail hearing. The subject was later released on a release order to attend court on a future date. (2024-895)

Broken phone leads to 911 call:

A report of a 911 hang up call was received by the Kitimat RCMP detachment on March 18th. The phone number was able to be linked to a subscriber with a local address. The investigating RCMP officer conducted a check at the residence and was able to speak with the subscriber. It was found that the phone had been broken the previous day and when an attempt to turn on the broken phone was made, it inadvertently made the emergency call. All was well and no help was required from emergency services, however the phone would certainly require assistance to operate properly again. (2024-905)

Noise bylaw:

Just after midnight on March 19th, the Kitimat RCMP was informed of a loud party at a residence located in the Whitesail neighbourhood. The responding Kitimat RCMP officer was able to locate the residence easily by listening for the loud music. The occupants of the residence were spoken to who turned down the music. (2024-913)

Lost, found and returned wallet:

On March 20th, while preparing for their shift, a Kitimat RCMP officer was approached and provided a wallet that had been found 15 mins earlier in a local parking lot. The officer was able to identify and contact the owner who attended the Kitimat RCMP detachment to pick up the found item they had lost. (2024-931)
