Man facing several charges following vehicle fire

On Friday, December 1, 2023 at shortly after midnight, Fort St John received a call from a local security company reporting a suspicious man who was inside a locked compound on 100th Ave in the city.

It was reported that the man was smashing the window of a Chevrolet Silverado pick-up. While police were on scene the man allegedly lit the truck on fire then hid under another truck within the lot.

Police quickly located the suspect and he was arrested without incident. The suspect was held in custody and has now been charged.

BC Prosecution Services has approved charges in this investigation. Travis Sharyk, 33-years old, has been charged with willfully resist arrest, break and enter, arson and mischief to property. He remains in custody for his next court appearance.
