Terrace, Smithers, Prince Rupert
2023-09-26 10:04 PDT
If you attended the Terrace Farmers market on September 16, 2023, you may have noticed an unusual booth.
BC Highway Patrol from Terrace indeed made an appearance at the Farmers market, handing out swag such as pedestrian reflectors and distracted driving stickers to members of the public.
Those who attended the booth were also informed of the BCHP mandate to reduce serious injury and fatal collisions on Provincial Highways, and were encouraged to practice safe driving practices
stated Sgt. McLaughlin, Unit Commander of Terrace/Smithers BCHP. BBQ’d hotdogs, and refreshments were also offered by BC Highway Patrol for free as a thank you to the people of the northern communities located along the provincial highways.
BC Highway Patrol's attendance, along with its motorcycle which was on display, was very well received. Two hundred and fifty hotdogs were served by Sgt McLaughlin, Sharon Vanderveld and Cpl Nicolai before they ran out of supplies 2hrs into the 4hr event.
Sgt McLaughlin and his team would also like to remind the motoring public to leave the phone alone while driving and ensure you and your passengers are wearing your seatbelts.
