2023-2758 / 2759 / 2791 / 2794 / 2807 – Missing Persons
Sea to Sky Pemberton and Whistler RCMP received a number of reports of missing persons. In all cases, investigations were initiated and the missing persons were located safe.
2023-2763 / 2803 – Phishing scam / Online extortion
Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP received two calls regarding an email scam and online extortion. In both cases, the individuals targeted reported the scams and did not comply with any demands or requests made. Police encourage individuals who receive scam emails or messages to report to Police, and not to open email attachments or respond to demands for money.
2023-2771 – Speeding motorcycles
Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP received a report of two motorcycles who were observed speeding and swerving in and out of traffic, including into oncoming lanes. No vehicle details were obtained and Sea to Sky Whistler RMCP were unable to locate the motorcyclists.
2023-2784 / 2785 / 2796 / 2806 – Impaired driving checks
Sea to Sky Whistler and Pemberton RCMP conducted proactive vehicle checks and one roadblock to check for sobriety. Approximately 100 vehicles were checked at the Pemberton roadblock with no violations noted. In the proactive vehicle checks conducted by Whistler members, immediate roadside driving prohibitions were issued to a number of Whistler residents and one non-local driver.
2023-2812 / 2814 / 2840 – Traffic collisions
On June 17, 2023 Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP received reports of a low-speed collision between a vehicle and a cyclist, and one hit and run with minimal damage. On June 18, 2023, Sea to Sky Pemberton RCMP attended at a single vehicle collision. The driver provided a sample of their breath roadside, which resulted in a fail. The driver was also travelling without a valid driver’s license and without valid insurance.
2023-2816 / 2829 / 2830 – Public intoxication
Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP attended to a number of reports of intoxicated persons in Whistler Village. In one case, a non-local male was arrested and provided with a safe accommodation for the remainder of the evening. Two other individuals were connected with sober friends and assisted with safe transport home, respectively.
2023-2821 / 2822 – No insurance
While making proactive patrols, Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP stopped two vehicles without valid insurance. Violation tickets were issued in each case to one Whistler resident and one non-local individual.
