File # BCHP Nelson 2023-600

On the evening of February 9, 2023, an officer from BC Highway Patrol Nelson Police Dog Services was on routine patrol on Highway 3b in Trail, BC. Checks on a vehicle by the Officer revealed that it was uninsured, at which point it was stopped for investigation with the assistance of Trail RCMP. Both occupants exhibited suspicious behaviour, after which point officers located a loaded handgun with a high-capacity magazine on the waist of the passenger. The man, who already had a warrant for driving while prohibited, was arrested. A further search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of an additional loaded handgun along with a small quantity of drugs in powdered form.
