Police investigate early morning shooting

On Wednesday, February 15, 2023, Fort St James RCMP were called to a home on Lower Road in the community.
A man, inside his home, had been shot and needed medical treatment. Investigators immediately responded to the home and quickly determined that the gun shots originated from the street outside the home. Evidence at the home show that multiple shots were fired at the residence.
Police have canvassed the neighborhood and while many people report hearing gunshots, a possible suspect(s) have yet to be identified.
While police do not believe this to be random, it is felt that the victim may not have been the intended target.
Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area of Lower Road around 4:40 am and saw anyone walking, or a vehicle leaving the area, to call police.
The victim received medical treatment and is co-operating with police. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
