Possession of stolen vehicle

On November 3 at 12pm, Lillooet RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on Hwy 12. Police attended and observed a white pickup truck with damage to the rear end. Police queries showed the vehicle was stolen. A female was observed in the driver’s seat and was arrested for possession of property obtained by crime. The registered owner of the vehicle was advised of the vehicle recovery and a tow was arranged. The accused was later released with a future court date to speak to the allegations.

Assault

On November 3 at 5pm, a woman reported she had been assaulted by her brother in-law. The parties were separated. Police learned the brother in-law was arguing with the woman’s sister, so the woman stepped in and told the brother in-law not to talk to the sister that way. The brother in-law then assaulted the woman. Police later located the brother in-law and arrested him for assault. The man was released on conditions and a future court date.

Breach

On November 3 at 6pm, a woman reported her ex-boyfriend was at her residence while he was on no contact conditions with her. Police attended and located the ex-boyfriend on scene and arrested him without issue. The ex-boyfriend was also found to be heavily intoxicated. He was transported to Lillooet cells to sober up, and was released the morning with a future court to for failing to comply with release order.

Found property

On November 3, a wallet was turned in to Lillooet RCMP. Police were able to identify the owner and made contact with him. The wallet was returned to the owner two days later.

Unwanted trailer

On November 4, a man reported an RV trailer had recently been towed onto his property and he did not want it there anymore. Police attended and were able to identify the trailer and the owner who appeared to be away. The trailer was on private property, and the owner of the property was advised it would be his responsibility to have the trailer towed away. Police observed the next day the trailer had been towed away.

Roadcheck

On November 6 at 3pm, Lillooet RCMP conducted a roadcheck on Hwy 99, just south of Seton Lake. Police were checking for valid drivers licence, insurance and winter tires. As of October 1 all roads leading into and out of Lillooet requires vehicles to use winter tires by Provincial law. For roads with winter tire designations, standard passenger, 4-wheel drive and all-wheel drive vehicles must use winter tires or mud and snow tires. Section 125 of the Motor Vehicle Act applies when passenger vehicles are not equipped with winter tires when/where required, and carries a fine of $121. All vehicles checked that day were found with valid driver’s licence, insurance and proper winter tires.

Liquor act

On November 7 at 9am a complainant advised police there was a woman harassing people and appeared to be intoxicated out of the of the Community Cares warming centre. Lillooet RCMP attended and observed a woman known to police. The woman appeared intoxicated and was if police could drive her somewhere that someone could watch over her while she sobered up. The woman replied she wanted to go to a local liquor store to, F*** stuff up. The woman was unable to provide police with somewhere to take her, and was subsequently arrested for being intoxicated in public and transported to Lillooet cells to sober up.

Extortion

On November 8, a man reported he had sent a nude photo to a Facebook profile with name Melanie Barry while he was drunk. Since then, Melanie began demanding he send them money otherwise the nude photo of the man would be shared publicly. The woman provided an international phone number and police had no means to identify Melanie. The man was advised not to send any money to anyone he’d met online, report and block Melanie to Facebook, and avoid sending nude photos to strangers online.
