On May 11, 2024 the Surrey RCMP and the BC RCMP Recruiting Team is hosting a unique career information session at Surrey Detachment where applicants will have the opportunity to start the application process on site.

Since the last recruiting session held in Surrey in June 2023, applicants have been able to enter into a flexible posting plan, allowing them to work in available positions across British Columbia if they choose to. If you’re from BC and want to police with the RCMP in BC, this is your opportunity!

Applicants will have the opportunity to register for a career information presentation, attend an open networking session with recruiters and RCMP officers (currently serving in a variety of units within Surrey Detachment). Applicants will then attend a Recruiter Assisted Application Presentation, providing a step by step process in completing an RCMP application.

Career Information Session:

The Career Information Session begins at 10:00 am. Applicants who are interested in a career with the RCMP will hear first-hand from both Surrey RCMP officers and recruiting officers from the BC RCMP about how applicants can make a difference in their communities as well as on the national and international stage. Veteran officers will also be in attendance to share their diverse experiences in the RCMP.

Networking Session:

At 11:00 am, applicants will have an opportunity to engage in open dialogue with serving RCMP officers to answer questions about some of the 150 different career paths offered in the RCMP.

Looking back on my recruiting process, I was fortunate to have personally known RCMP officers and I was able to ask them some tough questions and find out what a career in the RCMP could look like, says Corporal James Mason, Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer. Not every applicant considering a career with the RCMP will have a personal connection to an RCMP officer, or be able to speak with an officer often engaged in frontline policing; for many applicants, this will truly be a unique opportunity.

Recruiter Assisted Application Presentation:

The Recruiter Assisted Application Presentation is a step-by-step application presentation beginning at 11:30 am. As part of this presentation, recruiters will guide serious applicants through the process of starting their online applications.

Providing serious applicants with the option to start their online application the same day they attend the career presentation will expedite the application process, while offering direct guidance and support from recruiters not otherwise received when applying online from home, explains Corporal Mason.
