As the school whistle blows for the last time this year, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment wants to help kids jump on their bikes with safety in mind.

From 11-2 p.m. on Sunday July 3, 2022, bike riders of all ages and abilities are invited to grab their wheels and helmets and head to a summer bike rodeo at McArthur Island.

For the free and interactive drop-in event, the Kamloops RCMP Crime Prevention Unit is teaming up with the City of Kamloops, ICBC, local bike clubs and vendors, and the NorthPaws Baseball Team, to help participants brush up their skills and enter the school break with riding confidence.

An obstacle course, bike inspection, helmet fitting, free giveaways, and tons of fun await Kamloops cyclists at the rodeo, said Corporal Dana Napier, Kamloops RCMP Crime Prevention Unit. Riders will also get the opportunity to meet and practise their skills with the NorthPaws players, who will be helping with the obstacle course before heading to the field for their ballgame.

After the rodeo, families are invited to stick around McArthur Island and watch the NorthPaws baseball game at 2:45 p.m.
