The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 400 calls for service from midnight Friday May 27, to 9 a.m. on Monday May 30, 2022. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Weapons call downtown

Police are investigating a report involving a weapon in a parking lot, followed by a hit and run at another location.

On Friday May 27, around 12:20 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the 400-block of Lansdowne Street for two people running around with a knife, before leaving in a westbound black Honda Civic. A police officer located the car in a parking lot on Columbia Street and attempted to stop it, but it backed into another vehicle and fled.

Stolen vehicle recovered

A motorcycle reported stolen in 2020 was recovered at a motel on Friday.

On May 27, 2022 around 5 p.m., a Kamloops RCMP frontline officer was patrolling the area of Columbia and Nicola streets when he came across the motorcycle he recognized to be stolen. No license plate was attached to the bike, which was seized by police as part of the investigation. The motorcycle was stolen from Chancellor Drive in September 2020.

Theft of fuel

A truck had its gas tank drilled out while parked on Andover Crescent this weekend.

On Saturday May 28, 2022, around 12:50 p.m., police were contacted about the theft, which also involved spilt gas all over the parking lot. The crime is suspected to have occurred sometime before 7 a.m.

Fight downtown

A man was arrested following a report of a fight downtown early Sunday morning.

On May 29, 2022, around 12:40 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the 300-block of Victoria Street where a man stated he had been in an altercation with an unknown man, which led to the suspect physically assaulting him. The victim was uninjured and did not wish to pursue charges.

Police located the suspect based on the description provided. He was arrested, lodged in cells to sober up safety and to prevent continuation of the offence, and later released.
