Update: Burnaby RCMP releases new photos of suspect in assault of 89-year-old woman at Metrotown

Thanks to a tip from the public, Burnaby RCMP have obtained better quality photos of the suspect in the assault of an 89-year-old woman at Metrotown on Thursday.

On April 20, 2023, an unknown man assaulted an 89-year-old woman at Metrotown by shoving her to the ground. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The same man assaulted two other people in the mall before leaving the area.

Since publishing the photos of the suspect, the Burnaby RCMP has received several tips, including one that led investigators to obtain better quality photos from an incident at a SkyTrain station on April 19.

The suspect photos have been deleted for privacy reasons.

We don’t want this suspect to harm anyone else, so please have a look at these photos, said Cpl. Mike Kalanj with Burnaby RCMP. If you recognize this man, we’d like you to contact our investigators.
