Burnaby RCMP would like to thank the community for participating in a Burnaby Neighborhood Incident Response Program (BNIRP) outreach session in response to the February 2, 2023 homicide on Mulberry Place in Burnaby that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old boy.
Topics covered with area residents during the outreach session on Monday, February 13, 2023 included tools, resources and programs available through the Burnaby RCMP, how to talk to others about what happened, and how to process a traumatic incident and related anxiety.
Presenters included Burnaby RCMP Insp. Kathy Hartwig, Sgt. Tim Pierotti from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), as well as representatives from Burnaby RCMP’s Youth Section, and Victim Services Unit.
We would like to thank everyone who came to this support session for sharing how this tragic incident has affected their community,
said Burnaby RCMP Insp. Kathy Hartwig. We appreciate the engagement from residents and the opportunity to listen to concerns, answer questions, and to connect people with resources they may need.
The goal of a BNIRP session is to reach people that have been impacted by a major incident to help reduce trauma and connect people with available resources and supports.
