File # 2021-5305

We regret to inform you that today, around 11:00 a.m., the Burnaby RCMP, with the assistance of two concerned Burnaby residents, located Thomas Tremblay deceased.

Tremblay was found in a very remote location of Byrne Creek Ravine Park.

Our initial investigation has led us to believe that Mr. Tremblay succumbed to the cold weather, said Cpl. Brett Cunningham of the Burnaby RCMP. We express our condolences to his family and friends as we all mourn their loss.

The Burnaby RCMP would like to recognize the efforts of Luna and Greg Hennessey, two Burnaby residents who took it upon themselves to help with the search and led police to Tremblay.

This is not the outcome we were hoping for, said Cpl. Brett Cunningham. We take this moment to remind ourselves how we must continue to protect and look out for our community's most vulnerable. Thank you to all those who contributed in the search and shared his photograph.

Thank you to the volunteers of Coquitlam Search and Rescue, North Shore Search and Rescue helicopter, Vancouver Police, Burnaby and Vancouver residents and all the countless others who helped in the search.
