IHIT called to Burnaby, Officer in Charge to provide update on gang violence.

***There will be a media availability with Chief Superintendent Deanne Burleigh and IHIT, Sgt. Frank Jang, at 3:30 p.m. at Burnaby Detachment, 6355 Deer Lake Avenue***
Yesterday evening, around 8:00 p.m., Burnaby RCMP Frontline officers and Burnaby Gang Enforcement Team were called to the 6500-block of Portland St for a report of shots fired. Upon police arrival, a 32-year-old Burnaby man was located deceased inside a vehicle.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called and will be working in partnership with Burnaby RCMP to investigate.
Based on the investigation to date, police do not consider this to be a random act and it is not believed that there is any danger to the public at this time.
Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase and Sgt. Frank Jang will provide an update on the investigation at 3:30 p.m. (Burnaby Detachment, 6355 Deer Lake Avenue)
