Burnaby RCMP investigating serious collision involving a pedestrian

Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) continues to investigate a serious collision that has left a man with serious life altering injuries.

On October 23rd, just before 8 p.m., Burnaby RCMP Frontline officers responded to a report that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Gilley Avenue and Imperial Street in Burnaby.

The pedestrian, a 37-year-old man remains in hospital with serious life altering injuries.

Investigators have ruled out alcohol as a factor. The driver remained on scene and continues to cooperate with the investigation.

Police are asking that anyone who may have witnessed this collision or potentially have dash cam video in the area when the collision took place to please contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 or if you wish to remain anonymous contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Police are asking that drivers look twice for pedestrians; particularly in low light conditions and pedestrians ensure they are visible, especially in the early morning and late evening.
