A man has been arrested after a female was injured during an early morning rollover in Burnaby.

On June 5th, 2020 at 1:00 A.M., the Burnaby RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle rollover at Gilmore Avenue and Halifax Street in Burnaby. Upon arrival, frontline officers of the Burnaby RCMP found an unconscious female outside the vehicle, who police believe to have been a passenger. The vehicle, a black Dodge Durango, had come to a stop after striking two hyrdo poles, a light standard and a traffic light.

The male driver fled the scene and was located nearby by frontline officers.

The female occupant, an 18-year-old Quebec resident, was transported to hospital where she was treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The male driver, a 31-year-old Quebec resident, was arrested and later released pending further investigation.

Both alcohol and speed are believed to be causal factors in the collision.
