Burnaby RCMP investigating early morning shooting

Burnaby RCMP’s Investigative Support Team is continuing to investigate a shooting that sent one man to hospital with minor injuries.

This morning at 5:10 am, Burnaby RCMP Frontline officers responded to the 5500 block of Patterson Avenue for a report of a home invasion. Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a 31-year-old man with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

At this time it appears as though this incident was targeted and is unrelated to other violent incidents that have taken place in Burnaby in January.

The victim is known to police and police are continuing to work with the victim on getting a description of the suspect.

While it is still early in the investigation, it appears that this was not a random act. says Corporal Mike Kalanj with Burnaby RCMP. Our teams are working hard to identify the suspect in this investigation and we’re asking anyone who may have information that they think could assist in our investigation to contact us.
