File # 2022-12483

A Comox Valley man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to several indecent acts in the Comox Valley.

On August 12th, 2022 the Comox Valley RCMP received two separate reports of a man passing by women, exposing himself and masturbating in front of them.

On August 14th, 2022 the Comox Valley RCMP received a report of a man who was exposing himself to a woman as he followed her in Comox. At this time, with the assistance of a Police Services Dog, frontline members were able to contain the area, locate and arrest a suspect.

The suspect matched the description of the man reported in the earlier incidents and members of the Comox Valley RCMP Major Crime Unit worked to gather sufficient evidence to link all of the incidents together.

The collaboration between our frontline members, police dog services, community members, and our major crime investigators facilitated a quick resolution to these incidents, said Cpl. Matt Holst, Comox Valley RCMP Major Crime Unit. We hope that this provides some resolution to all involved and wish to thank the public for their assistance.

The 21-year old man plead guilty in Nanaimo Provincial court to 2 counts of indecent act in a public place and one count of exposing his genitals to someone under the age of 16. He was sentenced to 31 days in custody (in addition to his time served), 2 years of probation, is required to successfully complete treatment and counselling programs and provide a DNA sample to be added to the National Databank.
