Hit and run:

The Kitimat RCMP were dispatched to a hit and run collision that occurred on Hasila Ave on September 28th, 2023. A Kitimat RCMP officer attended and find that a large box truck and a passenger vehicle had been involved in a sideswipe collision in a merge lane. A mirror was broken on the passenger vehicle, but the box truck failed to stop or remain on the scene. The ongoing investigation has been unable to identify the truck and driver. (2023-3743)

Suspicious cyclist:

A report of a cyclist with a possible weapon, riding their bike in the area of Albatross Ave, was received by the Kitimat RCMP on September 28th. The cyclist was located and stopped by a Kitimat RCMP officer. It was quickly found that the item that was believed to be a weapon was actually a portable speaker. (2023-3748)

Nosie Bylaw:

During the late evening hours of September 29th, the Kitimat RCMP received a noise bylaw complaint at a residence located in the Kildala neighborhood in Kitimat BC. Kitimat officers attended the area and was able to located a party at a residence. A request to lower the noise was made and initially complied with. However later in the evening a second report was received, resulting in the resident receiving a noise bylaw violation ticket. (2023-3761)

Found cellphone:

While a Kitimat RCMP officer was conducting a foot patrol at a local business on the 800 block of Tsimshian Blvd on September 30th, a cellphone that was located the previous day was handed to the officer. It was reported the Cellphone had been located and it is unknown who the owner of the phone is. The phone is currently being kept at the Kitimat RCMP detachment and if you are missing a phone and able to identify it, please contact the Kitimat RCMP detachment at 250-632-7111. (2023-3773)

2x Three day driving prohibition:

The manner in which two vehicles were being operated caught the attention of two Kitimat RCMP officers making patrols in the downtown area of Kitimat during the evening hours of September 30th. In both instances traffic stops were conducted and it was found both drivers were intoxicated by alcohol. The drivers were issued a three-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and the vehicles were impounded for three days. (2023-3775) (2023-3776)

Suspicious substance found:

On October 1st, the Kitimat RCP received a call regarding a suspicious substance found on a path between Wren St and Widgeon St. The investigating Kitimat RCMP officer attended and located four baggies of an unknown powdered substance. The substances were seized and no further items were located in the area. (2023-3785)

River incident:

The Kitimat RCMP was dispatched to assist two persons fishing on the Kitimat River on October 2nd. It was reported that a drift boat had come into contact with a log jam, causing one person to fall out of the boat, swimming to shore and another to be on the log jam. Kitimat Search and Rescue was contacted and successfully assisted with getting the parties back to safety. No injures were reported from this incident. (2023-3796)

Prohibited driver:

A vehicle that was being driven while missing lighting devices caught the attention of a patrolling Kitimat RCMP officer in a Whitesail neighborhood on October 3rd. A traffic stop was conducted and it was found the driver was prohibited from driving. The driver was arrested for driving while prohibited and released on an appearance notice to attend court on a future date to answer to the charges. The vehicle was towed from the scene. (2023-3810)
