File # 2023-5611

On June 28th, 2023 at approximately 1:00pm Cranbrook RCMP responded to a report of an erratic driver on highway 3 East of Cranbrook. Just as police observed the West bound vehicle it collided with the vehicle ahead of it as that truck was exiting the highway. Cranbrook RCMP determined neither of the drivers were injured and ruled out impairment concerns for the subject of the initial driving complaint. Ironically, the investigating officer quickly determined the other driver showed signs of impairment, a belief that was later confirmed by breath samples at Cranbrook detachment. That driver was later released from custody with an Appearance Notice for Cranbrook provincial Court.

This is not your traditional impaired driving scenario but, it is important to remind the motoring public that drinking and driving will catch up on you eventually says S/Sgt Barry Graham.
