Police investigating fatal pedestrian collision, seeking CCTV and dash cam

The North Vancouver RCMP are looking for witnesses and dash-cam footage in an effort to further their investigation of a fatal collision involving a pedestrian.

On March 9th, 2024 at approximately 5:45 a.m., the North Vancouver RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian that was struck by a taxi near North Vancouver. Life saving measures were taken by fire crews and BC Ambulance. Sadly, the pedestrian did not survive their injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The pedestrian is being identified as a man in his 20s from North Vancouver.

The preliminary investigation indicates the taxi was travelling southbound on Forbes Avenue near West 1st Street when they struck the pedestrian. Impaired driving has been ruled out but the investigation continues as investigators gather evidence leading up to the collision.

Our sincerest condolences to the young man's family and friends as they deal with this tragic loss of life, said Constable Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP. The North Vancouver RCMP Victim Services and the Integrated First Nations Unit has been engaged and is supporting all those who have been affected by this tragedy.

Forbes Avenue was closed in the hours following the collision as the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service conducted an analysis of the scene and gathered evidence.

Anyone who witnessed or has dash–cam video of the collision and has not spoken to police is asked to contact the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 and quote file 24-4461.
