File # 2022-373
Background:
On March 25, 2022, at 8:49 p.m., Langley RCMP responded to a report of an unconscious man in the 20400-block of 88 Avenue in Langley. Officers attended the scene and attempted life saving efforts, but sadly, the man died on scene.
The victim was identified as 30-year old Cody Mostat of Langley and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) assumed conduct of the investigation.
Supported by the Langley RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU-BC), IHIT investigators worked diligently to gather pertinent evidence.
Following a six-month investigation, 39-year-old Justin Bos was identified as a suspect and he was arrested as a result. On September 22, 2022, Mr. Bos was charged with the second-degree murder of Mr. Mostat. On March 6, 2023, a direct indictment was preferred.
Update:
On December 20, 2024, Mr. Bos pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter with a firearm. He is due for sentencing in the upcoming months for multiple offences including one other count of manslaughter with a firearm for the homicide of Troy Regnier.
A guilty plea reflects the hard work and dedication of our investigators and their collaboration with our policing partners and the BC Prosecution Service,
says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT. Mr. Bos was a repeat offender and keeping him off the streets was important to us for public safety.
