Burnaby RCMP seeks dashcam video, witnesses, after collision that has left pedestrian in critical condition

Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team is investigating a collision that has left a pedestrian in the hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

On December 17, 2024, at approximately 10:40 p.m., Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a single vehicle incident involving a pedestrian in the area of Union Street and Sperling Avenue. The 24-year-old female victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The driver remained on scene and has been cooperating with the investigation. Impaired driving is not a contributing factor in the collision.

We have spoken with several witnesses who were in the area at the time, but if you witnessed this incident and haven’t yet spoken to police or if you have dashcam video in the area, please contact our investigators, said Cpl. Mike Kalanj with the Burnaby RCMP.

Police are asking anyone that witnessed the incident or may have dash cam footage in the area of Union Street and Sperling Avenue between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. to please contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and quote file number 2024-43601.
