Richmond RCMP to host summer Car Seat Clinic
Richmond
2024-07-19 10:19 PDT
Richmond RCMP, in collaboration with ICBC and BCAA, is pleased to announce its upcoming Car Seat Clinic on Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 10 AM to 2 PM at Lansdowne Centre, located at 5300 No. 3 Road, Richmond, in the parking lot by the north entrance. This event is a vital part of our continued commitment to enhancing child passenger safety and promoting public education within our community.
The Child Passenger Safety program, initiated by Richmond RCMP in 2022, focuses on educating parents and caregivers about the correct installation and use of child car seats. Certified child passenger safety educators, including Richmond RCMP officers and community volunteers, will conduct personalized car seat audits. These audits ensure that car seats meet Canadian safety standards, are not expired, and are correctly installed according to the manufacturer’s specifications, considering the child’s age, weight, and height.
Participants will gain practical knowledge and hands-on assistance in car seat installation, helping to ensure their children’s safety on the road. Each audit session will last approximately 30-45 minutes, concentrating on teaching caregivers the proper techniques rather than installing the car seats for them.
Due to the popularity of the clinic, participants are strongly encouraged to pre-register by calling 604-207-4761, Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM.
This initiative is part of Richmond RCMP’s ongoing efforts to enhance community safety and well-being, and also includes delivering safety presentations to various community groups, including daycares, thereby extending our reach and impact.
Join us in prioritizing safety for our youngest passengers. Reserve your spot today and ensure peace of mind by knowing your child’s car seat is appropriate, legal, correctly installed, and used properly.

Our goal is to ensure that every child in Richmond travels safely. Our Car Seat Clinics provide an excellent opportunity for caregivers to receive expert advice and hands-on training to properly install and use car seats. By working together with ICBC and BCAA, we are strengthening our community’s commitment to child passenger safety.– Corporal Adriana O’Malley, Richmond RCMP
