Lake Cowichan RCMP investigating fatal collision on Highway 18

On April 26, 2023, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Lake Cowichan RCMP responded to a head-on collision between two vehicles, 2 km east of Lake Cowichan, BC.

A minivan travelling westbound collided head-on with a flatbed truck that was travelling eastbound. Unfortunately, the driver of the minivan died at the scene.

The driver of the truck was airlifted to hospital after sustaining serious injuries.

The RCMP traffic analyst and Lake Cowichan RCMP officers are investigating the cause of the collision and the highway is expected to be closed in both directions until approximately 7:00 p.m.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Lake Cowichan RCMP at 250-749-6668.
