Please note that as of August 15, 2023 all appointments for the car seat safety clinic on August 27, 2023 have been filled. We thank the public for their interest and look forward to hosting similar events in the future.

Burnaby RCMP is inviting members of the public to an upcoming car and booster seat safety initiative, happening by appointment on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Lougheed Shopping Centre.

For a child’s car seat or booster seat to be effective it must be installed and used correctly, but parents and caregivers often remark that they can be complicated and intimidating to set up and adjust.

Attendees of the upcoming safety event are asked to come to their appointment with their car or booster seat set up as usual.

Certified Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Educators, including Burnaby RCMP officers and BCAA staff, will then work one-on-one with attendees to inspect the current set up and assist with adjustments and education.

The goal of the appointment is to make sure car and booster seats are properly installed and adjusted for maximum safety, and also to educate and empower attendees so they are comfortable making their own adjustments in the future and as their child grows, said Cst. Kevin Connolly with Burnaby RCMP Traffic Services.

The August 27, 2023 safety event is taking place in the north west parking lot at Lougheed Shopping Centre from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Attendees must pre-book appointments online. If you are interested, please send an email here.

Appointments are approximately one hour long.
