File # 2020-45777
Burnaby RCMP Frontline officers continue to investigate a serious collision that has left a woman with serious injuries.
On November 17th, 2020, at 6:40 p.m., Burnaby RCMP Frontline officers responded to a report that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Central Boulevard and Bonsor Avenue.
The pedestrian, a 75-year-old woman, remains in hospital in serious, but stable condition.
The driver remained on scene and continues to cooperate with the investigation.
Police are asking that anyone who may have witnessed this collision or potentially have dash cam video in the area when the collision took place to please contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 or if you wish to remain anonymous contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
With darkness coming earlier this time of year, police are asking that drivers and pedestrians take extra caution on our roads.
Drivers:
- Focus on the road. Always leave your phone alone while driving.
- Be ready to yield to pedestrians, especially when turning at intersections and near transit stops.
- If a vehicle is stopped in front of you or in the lane next to you, they may be yielding for pedestrians.
Pedestrians:
- Be careful at intersections. Watch for drivers turning left or right through the crosswalk.
- Always use crosswalks and follow the pedestrian signs and traffic signals.
- Make eye contact with drivers, as it’s hard to see pedestrians when visibility is poor.
- Never assume that the driver has seen you.
