On Thursday November 5th, while conducting foot patrols in the 4800-block of Central Boulevard, Burnaby RCMP Traffic Section officers were made aware of a man carrying a knife in the area. The officers located and detained the suspect. Police were approached by security, who stated the man had actually been banned from the premises several times. Police then discovered that he had an active warrant for his arrest pertaining to a theft that occurred in Surrey in July of this year.
The suspect was arrested and transported to Burnaby detachment to deal with the warrant. He was remanded in police custody until his court dates, one in Vancouver and another in Surrey.

On Wednesday, November 11th, a frontline officer conducted a traffic stop after witnessing a driving infraction at the intersection of Kingsway and Nelson Avenue. The officer noted that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Maple Ridge in late October. The driver was arrested and transported to Burnaby detachment. Officers seized a bag of suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia and tools believed to be used in criminal activity. The vehicle was towed and arrangements were made to have it returned to the registered owner.
We are cracking down on illegal activity all over Burnaby, says Corporal Mike Kalanj of the Burnaby RCMP.
From Traffic Section to Drug Section to our Frontline officers, we’re dedicated to keeping the streets of Burnaby safe and holding those who choose to break the law accountable.
