Mounties in Lytton BC have launched a festive initiative with a goal of showing the communities appreciation for its elders.

Cst. Seamus O’Connell, a member of the Lytton RCMP Indigenous Policing Services section, has now launched an initiative geared towards collecting new unwrapped gifts for elders in need of an extra special gift this Holiday Season.

Cst. O’Connell is encouraging elders, or anyone who knows an elder or senior in the Lytton community, to fill out a holiday wish list. Simply visit the Lytton RCMP Detachment and complete an Adopt an elder wish list on or before December 1, 2020.

Lytton RCMP has decorated a Christmas tree in its front lobby with ornaments containing a senior’s wish list items.

We are encouraging members of the Lytton community to also visit the detachment, select someone’s wish list and purchase one of the elder’s wish list items, states Cst. Seamus O’Connell. Simply bring that purchased item back to the Lytton RCMP Detachment, and we’ll not only wrap that gift, but personally deliver those presents to the elder on the community’s behalf to show all our respect, while spreading some joy this season.

BC RCMP Indigenous Policing Services is striving to bring the Adopt an elder initiative to all the communities it serves across British Columbia, more information to come.

For more information, or if you would like to donate to this cause, feel free to contact Cst. O’Connell by phone at 250-455-2225 or by email at seamus.oconnell@rcmp-grc.gc.ca
